SplitDem

SplitDem v1.02 (25k) DOS utility to split multi demo .DM2 files

If Quake2 records a demo that spans more than one map, only the first map in the resulting .DM2 file can be played back. With our little utility all the demos can be split into separate files. Copy the splitdem.exe into the directory with the .DM2 file that requires splitting, then in a DOS window type 'splitdem <filename>', where <filename> is the filename of the demo file.

The output files are <mapname>.dm2, if a file already exists a number is added to the end of the filename, so all demos will be retrieved.

Now correctly handles a download from the server during the demo.

About our Demo files

They have been recorded using the latest version of the Visual Weapons patch, if you do not have it installed the players will have white diamonds showing where the weapons should be.

They also have a timer in the lower righthand corner, to assist with the taking of screenshots and selecting the highlights. Be aware that the addition of the HUD results in the ESC key being unavailable during playback.

To terminate the demo you'll need to use the console key.
